The idea behind the movie.
Some have complained that its to hard to pull the meaning out of this movie but when I viewed it the first time I understood immediately its message. Right from the crack in the foundry window. Perhaps those that dont comprehend its meaning have never had a day in their lives that you would rather be dead. Continuing on would be meaningless torture, if it wasnt for the fact that you knew there was other things beyond that day. The crack in the window represents the welders want to escape. He is so drained from his everyday schedule that this longing to escape his life grows into a need. He builds a bird that can just fly away (very poetic). He quits his job and the writing on the foundry shows that he isnt just doing this on a whim, he fully intends to NEVER come back. Where he goes from there is up to you... its like questioning the viewer. Asking "where do you want to be, what do you want to be doing with your life?".
Wonderfully poetic and a message that isnt throwen in your face. The fact that some dont get it might tell us more. I think those that dont get it will be the ones that stay at the job and will continue to do the mindless labour for those of us that do grasp it.
I created a flash movie about violence and its real cause called "black&white to red". Only because I could look beyond what is obvious and what I have been told could I find the real reason or at least MY opinion. Something everyone should try, everything you are told look at its opposite before accepting it as the truth.
